Dynamic Lighting for a Premium Wellness Destination.
Located in the heart of Brisbane’s vibrant West End precinct, Function Well is redefining what a modern gym experience looks like. More than just a fitness centre, Function Well is a premium wellness destination that brings together elite training, recovery, restoration and lifestyle under one roof – creating a complete health and lifestyle hub unlike anything else in Brisbane.
To help bring this impressive project to life, Rapid LED partnered closely with Tripped Out Electrical to deliver a complete lighting solution that balanced performance, ambience and architectural design. With each area of the facility requiring a unique lighting approach – from high-energy training zones through to warm and inviting recovery spaces – this project demanded lighting solutions that could deliver both functionality and visual impact.
Through close collaboration with the team at Tripped Out Electrical, Rapid LED supplied a tailored lighting package that helped bring the Function Well vision to life.
With over 450 metres of Rapid LED IP20 Strip Lighting installed throughout the facility, the project achieved clean and effective indirect lighting across key architectural features. The strip lighting provided flexibility for seamless integration into joinery, bulkheads and custom-built elements, delivering a modern and refined finish. The use of Rapid Neoflex flexible neon lighting added a striking design element throughout feature zones. With over 200 metres installed, its flexible design allowed for smooth continuous lines of light, ideal for creating bold feature lighting with a premium finish. Further enhancing the visual impact was Rapid OneLine dot-free COB LED Strip, with more than 100 metres installed across the project. Its COB technology provides a smooth, dot-free light output, delivering sleek architectural lighting while maintaining a clean and sophisticated appearance.
Various lengths of RapidLine Linear Lighting was also used extensively throughout the project, helping define key areas with clean architectural lines while delivering high-performance illumination. The low glare linear lighting contributed to both the functional lighting requirements and the modern design language of the facility.
ARIA Pendant Lights – spanning an impressive 1 metre diameter – help create statement lighting in key areas. With their clean circular design and contemporary finish, the ARIA pendants deliver both functional illumination and striking visual appeal, perfectly complementing the premium aesthetic of Function Well.
To complete the lighting package, almost 100 LENNOX-90 Downlights were installed throughout Function Well in both black and white finishes – all in a warm 2700K colour temperature – allowing the lighting to complement different interior design elements throughout the gym, ensuring a cohesive and premium result across all spaces. The LENNOX-90 was chosen for its premium architectural aesthetic and low-glare performance. Its deep-set design reduces glare while delivering comfortable, high-quality illumination – perfect for wellness-focused spaces where ambience matters.
The completed Function Well Gym stands as an impressive example of how thoughtful lighting design can transform a space – enhancing performance, improving atmosphere, and elevating the overall user experience.
